After 2+ year of living in Kampala, I find that a sense of humor helps brings some perspective to everyday life. It would be so simple to get caught up in the chaos and crazy of a city with bad roads, so much poverty and a culture so different from my own.
Now, I find that by being on the lookout for things that are different, new, and unexpected, I find myself smiling and laughing on a regular basis.
I have a British friend who has lived here for years and recently married a Ugandan. She and I could go for hours comparing things that make us laugh. Over one conversation we both had seen the "Boarding School" post above. On one hand its sad, but given the context of where we live - we both thought it was hilarious. (Warped humor, I know!)
So grateful for a friend who relishes laughter!
A crazy Friday afternoon commute was tempered when one of my favorite songs from the 1960's was played on AM 90.0 Kampala Radio.

I remember Sugar Sugar by the Archies! Top song of 1969 on the top 100 countdown- we were all dismayed at the time, but now I love listening to it whilst munching my glucose biscuits.
- and now I've just aged myself.
Glucose biscuits!!! 🤩 Marketing meeting at Britania: " Let's just cut to the chase."
And....not only looking for a school that doesn't beat children, but nary an eyelash was batted in the replies- all just part of everyday schooling...🥹
