John is one of the first individuals incarcerated in a Rwandan prison who signed a plea agreement to resolve his case. He accepted the responsibility for his actions and this resolution saves the Rwanda Judiciary from imprisoning him longer (he's already served enough time in detention to cover the sentence). This also saves Rwanda from incurring the additional cost of taking his case to trial.

Most significantly, this lets John go home for Christmas!
