On the banks of the Nile River with our 2024 Summer Legal Interns
We spent a tremendous nine weeks of this past summer with these amazing law students. They worked tirelessly, rarely complained, said “YES” to the hard and were so fun to get to know. Two of them had never been on an airplane before but fully embraced the beauty and the challenges of living in Uganda. We miss them already as they are all jumping into their second or third year of law school.
There were so many things we learned together but a couple of students summed up the experience so well:
“Working alongside the best legal minds in Uganda, I gained profound insight into the complexities of global jurisprudence and the judiciary’s critical role in promoting justice.” Anna – 2L Regent University School of Law
“Our group was just exceptional--everyone was so kind and others-focused, not to mention incredibly talented advocates and legal workers. I got to live and work with heroes this summer and I count myself lucky to have had the privilege to watch them in action. I got to see so much of the country, and our excursions to Sipi Falls and Bwindi are some of my favorite memories. The prison project was one of the most incredible things I've ever had the privilege to witness and I'm already counting down the days until the next one. I'm sure y'all hear this from most of the interns, but it bears repeating again because it's true. This summer changed my life. It changed me for the better--it showed me that I'm a lot more capable than I thought, and that outside my comfort zone is where the fun begins.” Laurel – 2L Pepperdine University School of Law
We are honored to know these remarkable future lawyers and now count them as dear friends.
