Danger Zone

The frenzy around the latest Hollywood blockbuster has come to Uganda!

There are two movie theaters in town and we had yet to visit one since arriving. Due to COVID they were all closed for the past two years and opened in late January of this year.

In the midst of our very busy season with the Pepperdine Legal Fellows here for the summer – we decided to take a bit of a break last Thursday.

We decided to go see TOP GUN: Maverick.

The law students wanted to go and suggested either the 7:15 pm or 10 pm showing. We opted for the “old people’s” earlier time.

The theater was packed. Not an empty seat. They sold concessions (including really good carmel corn) and the lines were out the doors. The power cut out only once during the movie. People laughed and shouted at the exciting scenes. The room erupted in applause as the credits rolled.

Our entire group loved the show.
