Yesterday, Scott sat next to members of the Rwandan Supreme Court and high-level Rwandan judicial officials to codify years of discussion, dreaming and strategic planning.
In the late1990's, Rwanda developed innovative efforts to fast-track the resolution of court cases in the aftermath of the Rwandan genocide. Based on this foundational work, the Rwandan Judiciary is now rolling out plea bargaining on a much more formal scale. Pepperdine's School of Law is honored to partner in this new effort. The goal is to increase the capacity of the Rwandan judicial system by providing speedier methods of case resolution.
Scott was honored to represent Pepperdine. He signed a working agreement (Memorandum of Understanding) between Pepperdine University's Sudreau Global Justice Institute and the Judiciary of Rwanda.
For Scott, there will be many more 45-minute flights back and forth between Uganda and Rwanda as this effort rolls out in October. We'll keep you posted.
